News trading rules

Restrictions on opening, closing or holding trades around scheduled high-impact economic releases.

Some firms forbid trading in a window, such as a few minutes before and after major releases, or forbid profit made in that window from counting. Others allow news trading in the evaluation but restrict it on funded accounts. The list of events and the window length differ by firm.

Spreads widen and prices can gap during releases, so a stop may fill far from its level. Even where news trading is allowed, losses around releases can be larger than the risk you planned.
